Clay Bar Treatment Chicago

Run your fingertips over your paint after a wash. If it feels gritty instead of glass-smooth, that's bonded contamination — brake dust, rail dust, industrial fallout, and overspray that washing cannot remove because it's physically embedded in the clear coat. Clay bar treatment shears it off. We use real clay — not synthetic substitutes — as the middle stage of our signature Wash, Clay & Wax package ($160). Mobile, anywhere in Chicagoland.

What Clay Actually Does

Gliding over lubricated paint, the clay grabs anything sitting proud of the surface and pulls it out — you can feel the surface change from sandpaper-fine grit to true smoothness in a single pass. In Chicago, cars parked near the Metra lines or industrial corridors collect iron rail dust that shows as tiny orange specks on light paint; clay removes exactly this.

Why It Comes Before Wax

Sealing over contamination locks the grit in and cuts the sealant's bond and lifespan. Clay first, then hand wash residue away, then Jescar sealant onto clean paint — that order is why our Wash, Clay & Wax outlasts a wax-only job several times over. It's also the mandatory prep before paint correction.

Common Questions

How often does a car need claying?

Once or twice a year for most daily drivers — the fingertip test tells you when.

Can clay scratch my paint?

Done dry or with dirty clay, yes — which is why technique and fresh clay matter. Ours is always lubricated, folded fresh, and discarded the moment it's contaminated.
